AFM filter material for pool and swimming pool filter system - bag of 21 kg

AFM stands for Activated Filter Material and is a unique, bioresistant filter material that far exceeds the performance of quartz and glass sand and filters out at least 30% more organic matter.
Green glass is used as the raw material. It is washed, crushed to the correct grain size and shape, and then activated in a 3-step process. This greatly increases the surface area and gives AFM its unique properties.

The large surface area has a strong negative charge and can therefore absorb organic matter and small particles. The filter material has a high redox potential in the filter bed, which makes AFM self-disinfecting.

AFM is used in the treatment of drinking water, pre-filtration before membranes and desalination plants, swimming pool water, aquariums and tertiary wastewater treatment.

Available grit grades
AFM Grit 1   0.4 - 1.0 mm
AFM Grit 2   1.0 - 2.0 mm
AFM Grit 3   2.0 - 4.0 mm

AFM is supplied in bags of 21 kg, which corresponds to approx. 25 kg of conventional filter sand.

It is recommended to layer the filter system with three different grit sizes - 15% grit 3, 15% grit 2 and 70% grit 1. For filters with less than 1'000 mm diameter and DIN filters with nozzle bottoms, grit 2 can be used instead of grit 3.
