The water in our Jacuzzi is somewhat cloudy despite the use of SpaBalancer

"We have been using SpaBalancer for 4 weeks now and are actually very satisfied. Unfortunately, the water is now and then slightly cloudy. What are we doing wrong?
Our Jakuzzi has 1,500 liters of water capacity, is used by 2 adults about 4 x 30 min per week. We always shower before use.

We wash out the filter every week and clean it once a month in a filter cleaning solution."

The slight cloudiness may be due to insufficient filtration and / or insufficient filter cleaning.

To understand first. If the water in the Jacuzzi is disinfected with chlorine, bromine or active oxygen then a chemical process is always present which is called oxidation. During this oxidation, contaminants are dissolved. Therefore, they no longer need to be filtered. Since SpaBalancer does not require oxidation, the pollutants remain in the water in a transformed form and must be filtered out. As a result, the filters are more heavily loaded than with chlorinated water. In addition, the chlorine in the water to some extent also cleans the filters during use.

Conclusion: The filters are much more heavily loaded when using SpaBalancer and must therefore also be cleaned more regularly and thoroughly.

How are the filters properly cleaned?

Soak the filters overnight in a solution of filter cleaner and water. The filter cleaner dissolves all the grease and oils that are in the filter fleece. The next day, rinse the filter thoroughly with a water hose. Then soak the filter in a chlorine solution for another night. This chlorine solution will remove deposited calcium and similar contaminants. Then rinse again and place in a dry place so it can dry completely. During this time, take a replacement filter to filter the spa.

Do not use a filter for more than one year. After that, its filtration performance will greatly diminish because the microfleece is clogged and can no longer filter the water effectively.

To see if your filter is still working properly, turn on the spa light and look at the light from above in the water. It must be dark, of course. If you then see many small suspended particles it is time to replace the filters.

Filter cleaning in the dishwasher, with Kukident or similar means I can not recommend. Whereby it is of course up to everyone to make his own experiences. Also, filter quick cleaners, which are only sprayed on and can be rinsed off after a short time, are not optimal in my experience and also shorten the life of the filter.

Please clean your filter every two weeks. If this cleaning leaves very little dirt in the filter cleaning solution you can also extend the cleaning interval.

Make sure the filter is running long enough. I recommend at least 6 hours a day. However, this depends on the load of the water. If you are on vacation and no one uses the Jacuzzi, then you can also reduce the filtering to 2 to 3 hours.
