SpaBalancer and musty smell

"I have been using SpaBalancer for some time and it works very well. However, my water smells a little musty. Am I doing something wrong?"

 The musty smell can be due to several reasons.

1. The filters may not have been cleaned thoroughly enough. You should put the filters in a special filter cleaning solution for one night. The filter cleaner dissolves fats and oils from the filter fleece. Then rinse the filter thoroughly with a jet of water. After that, the filter should be put in a chlorine solution (2 tablespoons of chlorine to 10 - 15 liters of water) for one more night. The chlorine solution dissolves calcium and similar deposits from the filter. Then rinse thoroughly again and  allow the filter to dry.

2. The filter run time is too short. I recommend a filter run time of 2 x 4 hours per day.

3. For pools that are already in use, this musty smell can occur because the water is converted and the residual contaminants are flushed out of the piping system. This is a long process that can take up to 2 to 3 months. After that, however, this problem is gone forever. To stop the musty smell can be very good aroma bath salts.

4. Sometimes it is not the water that smells at all, but the edge of the hot tub and the edge of the insulating cover. In this case, dampen a cloth and drip a few drops of SpaBalancer on the damp cloth and then wipe the edge of the spa and the insulating cover. You can of course also take any commercially available disinfectant cleaner.
