Ozone is a very effective gas, which kills germs and bacteria, here the water is disinfected. Nevertheless, the additional use of disinfectants such as chlorine or SpaBalancer should not be omitted.

- Ozone is a very aggressive gas that is harmful to health when inhaled and damages plastics. Therefore, the amount of ozone used for mixing must be kept very low. However, not all pollutants and bacteria can be decomposed here.
- The contact gas is ozone. The reaction occurs only upon contact with germs, contaminants and bacteria. The reaction time of the ozone depends on the mixing with the hot tub water, because there are very different ozone systems in hot tubs. There are manufacturers who introduce the ozone into the whirlpool water through a nozzle. This creates large bubbles. The ozone does not work for the most part and the reaction time is very short. However, there are also outdoor whirlpools, such as Hydropool, which have a circulation pump. Here, the ozone is mixed with the water during several hours a day through the Mazzai injector. The effectiveness of the ozone here is much higher. An additional disinfectant is needed in the outdoor hot tubs only in small quantities.
The ozone is mixed into the hot tub water via various systems. This allows it to react with the pollutants and bacteria and oxidize them. But in the process, unfortunately, the ozone does not reach every corner of the outdoor hot tub. The disinfection of the pipes of the outdoor hot tub is not done with ozone. This means that the bacteria will multiply where the ozone cannot reach.
- Over time, ozone equipment loses its ability to produce ozone. For example, a three-year-old ozonator will only produce about 20% of the ozone it produced when it was first put into service.
Because of these four arguments, when using an ozonator, a disinfectant such as SpaBalancer must always be used in addition, and the ozonator can greatly reduce the amount of disinfectant used. This depends on the use of the integrated ozone system.
