The SelfClean filtration system is a pressure system. This seal to the bleed screw to the spa filter cover from Pentair allows you to bleed the remaining air from the pressure filter canister to ensure optimal filtration.

The bleed valves provide a complete seal of the valve so that no water / air escapes.
